Starting or Expanding a Business

The Haredi Microenterprise Loan program is the 21st century equivalent of HFLS’s loans to pushcart peddlers in a bygone era. The goal of this program is to help borrowers establish or expand a small business as a path to economic security. This loan program targets the Haredi community, one of the most economically vulnerable Jewish populations in New York. This program provides:

  • Loans up to $25,000 that must be repaid within up to five years
  • Pre- and post-loan technical assistance, including help in writing a business plan

Basic Business Training

The Society offers the Haredi community locally sited basic business training for entrepreneurs looking to start a business or expand a nascent business. We run two Men’s Courses and two Women’s Courses each year, alternating between Williamsburg and Borough Park. In addition, our Women’s Forum provides ongoing networking and business education opportunities for Haredi women with active businesses.
