Mark J. Gerstein

Mark Gerstein is a Senior Advisor to McKinsey & Company. Previously, he was a Vice President in the Capital Investments & Transactions team in Global Finance at InterContinental Hotels Group (“IHG”). He also spent several years as IHG’s Chief Capital Markets Officer for the Americas. Prior to IHG, he was a Managing Director at UBS Investment Bank in their real estate and lodging group and was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley. Mark graduated from McGill University with a civil engineering degree and received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He lives on the Upper West Side with his wife Valerie and their two daughters. Mark is actively involved with UJA-Federation of New York’s Hospitality Division. Mark’s family has a long connection to interest-free lending. Mark’s paternal grandfather was a borrower from a free loan society in Montreal shortly after he immigrated from the Ukraine. He borrowed $200 in 1928 to build a business. Mark’s maternal great-grandfather was a vice president of a New York City free loan society. So Mark has family connections to interest free lending on both sides of his family! He is honored to continue his family’s involvement at the HFLS.
