David Roberts had a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades in finance, primarily in investment management. After retiring from the financial industry several years ago, he shifted his focus to writing and to active involvement in high-impact, grassroots philanthropy aimed at combating poverty and expanding economic opportunity.
David currently serves on the Board of Directors of Hamptons Community Outreach and has previously served as Chair of the Board of Trustees of Riverdale Country School and the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. Throughout his career, he has also served on numerous public and private corporate boards, bringing extensive experience in governance, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.
In addition to his board service, David has been an informal advisor to the Robin Hood Foundation, helping to evaluate and support concessionary capital investments designed to address poverty. This work has included involvement with investments made by Robin Hood in organizations such as HFLS.
David and his wife, Deborah, are lifelong New Yorkers and have been married for 40 years. They have three adult children, two of whom are married, and are proud grandparents to three young grandchildren. Deeply rooted in New York City, David remains committed to supporting organizations that strengthen the economic well-being and resilience of local communities.
