Interest-free, no-fee salary advances of up to $2,000 for Community Healthcare Network employees earning $60,000 or less per year.

Access Advance Program Overview

The Community Healthcare Network (CHN) has partnered with the Hebrew Free Loan Society (HFLS) to offer interest-free, no-fee salary advances for CHN employees in need of affordable, convenient cash assistance.

The Access Advance Program provides salary advances of between $500 and $2,000 to current CHN employees who meet the following criteria:

  • Live or work in New York City’s five boroughs, Westchester, or Long Island
  • Worked for CHN for at least 12 months, and currently in good standing (not on probation or under review)
  • Earn an annual pre-tax salary of $60,000 or less per year from their job at CHN
  • Do not currently have an outstanding interest-free loan with HFLS, and is not serving as a guarantor on an outstanding HFLS loan

Employees may use their salary advance for any purpose; there are no restrictions on how the funds may be used.

Employees will repay their advances to CHN through payroll deduction. (See “Repayments” below for more information.)

If an applicant is married or partnered, he or she must include their spouse’s/partner’s information in the application, even if they do not work for CHN.

Application Process

  1. Complete and submit the online loan application for this program.
  2. Follow the instructions you’ll receive in an email from HFLS to complete the ID-Pal identity and ID document verifications and authorize HFLS to view your recent checking account transactions through Plaid.
  3. HFLS will then contact CHN directly to confirm that you meet the criteria listed in the Overview section above. Once CHN confirms, you will receive an email from HFLS containing instructions to electronically complete and sign a Promissory Note, Authorization for Payroll Deduction form, and an Authorization for Automatic Payments (ACH) form.
  4. Once HFLS receives the electronically-signed forms, HFLS will deposit your Access Advance funds directly into your checking account within two business days. (Please note that it may take several business days for the funds to appear in your account.)

The entire process, from receiving an application through deposit of the advance into a checking account, should take approximately one week.

Repayments

Borrowers repay their advances through CHN payroll deduction. This means that an employee does not need to take any action during the term of the advance; repayment will happen automatically on a biweekly basis.

Repayments will begin on the pay date that falls two to four weeks after an employee receives the loan funds. No fees or interest will be charged for these advances; employees will repay only the advance amount they received.

Repayment amounts range from $50 to $125 per pay period, with the amount based on an employee’s annual pre-tax salary (as confirmed by CHN) and the advance amount requested. Most advances will be fully repaid within one year.

Once an employee finishes repaying their advance, HFLS will send an email confirming that the loan has been fully repaid. The employee will also receive a link to a brief online survey, which will help HFLS understand how they used their advance and improve this program to better meet the needs of CHN employees. Responses to this survey will be anonymous.

To request a change to your repayment amount or to pay off your Access Advance early, please email Access@HFLS.org. HFLS will then confirm the change or payoff with CHN before any modifications are made. Please note that repayment requests must be received and confirmed by CHN at least four business days prior to the next scheduled payment date.

Multiple Advances

There is no limit on the number of advances an employee may take; however, any balance on an outstanding advance must be paid before the employee can qualify for another advance in this program or any HFLS interest-free loan program. Employees who fail to fully repay their advance will be barred from taking additional advances or HFLS interest-free loans.
