HOW MY HFLS JOURNEY BEGAN

“Originally from Ukraine, my wife and I moved to the United States from Israel, to help take care of my father who immigrated to the States years earlier. We didn’t anticipate staying, but eventually we found ourselves settling in and raising our children here.

When it came time for my first born to attend college, we were weary of student loan debt, but found it unavoidable. Our son was accepted into NYU for a degree in Engineering. The tuition was so expensive, that the original loan he received didn’t even cover the full amount.”

HOW HFLS HELPED

I reached out to the Hebrew Free Loan Society for an interest-free Undergraduate Loan. Thankfully this loan was enough to cover the remaining balance.

Having just recently paid-off my son’s loan, now one of my daughter’s is studying at Touro College to become an Early Childhood Educator, and I have been fortunate enough to receive a second interest-free loan from HFLS to help cover the cost of her college tuition and fees.

Thanks to the Hebrew Free Loan Society, my family has been able to worry less about our finances and more about attaining a quality education. Now our son has a solid career as an engineer, and our twin daughters are following their dreams of becoming a teacher and a doctor. I am grateful for this support from our community.”

“HFLS helped support two of my children through college.”
