As a lifelong New Yorker, when I pursued my medical education at Tel Aviv University, my biggest concern was graduating with a heavy high-interest debt load. The interest-free loan from the Hebrew Free Loan Society, along with a scholarship I received, gave me the financial leverage that I needed to focus on my studies without that burden.
